Our Warranty Policy

SMKSOLAR WARRANTY POLICY

1. General Warranty Coverage

SMKSolar Technology Nigeria Ltd warrants all its products against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of delivery or collection, except for PV solar panels or other products with a separately specified warranty.

Manufacturer warranties stated in manuals are not SMKSolar warranties and may not apply in Nigeria.

The warranty operates on a bring-in basis, meaning customers are required to return products to our workshop. For large or installed systems that cannot be moved, SMKSolar reserves the right to charge for transportation and site visits.

Within the warranty period, SMKSolar will repair or replace defective products at its discretion at no cost.

2. Warranty Exclusions (What Voids the Warranty)

The warranty becomes void if the product is damaged due to misuse, improper handling, or external factors, including but not limited to:

  • Reverse battery polarity

  • Incorrect installation or connections

  • Mechanical damage or deformation

  • Exposure to liquids, moisture, or oxidation

  • Use in harsh environments (dust, humidity, heat, corrosive conditions, pests)

  • Damage from lightning, power surges, or electrical faults

  • Overheating due to loose or improper connections

  • Unauthorized repairs, tampering, or modifications

  • Removal of the serial number

Only SMKSolar or its authorized service partners are permitted to carry out repairs.

3. Repair & Replacement Terms

  • Repair or replacement is the only remedy provided

  • Repaired products carry a 3-month warranty

  • Warranty period does not extend after repair or replacement

  • All replaced parts become property of SMKSolar

  • Repairs may use new or refurbished parts

SMKSolar is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

4. Customer Responsibility

If you resell or supply SMKSolar products to third parties, you must:

  • Inform them of proper usage and product limitations

  • Provide all manuals and instructions

  • Ensure proper installation standards

SMKSolar is not responsible for faulty installations carried out by third parties. You agree to indemnify SMKSolar against any claims, damages, or losses resulting from misuse or incorrect installation.

5. System-Specific Warranty Terms

Warranty coverage depends on who handles design, installation, and commissioning:

  • Product Only Purchased: Warranty covers product only (not system performance)

  • Design by SMKSolar Only: Covers product, not system performance

  • Design & Commissioning by SMKSolar: Covers product and system performance

  • Full SMKSolar Installation: Full warranty on product and system

If non-SMKSolar components are used, system performance is not guaranteed.

If installation is done externally, commissioning by SMKSolar is required for system warranty to apply.

All support for non-SMKSolar systems is chargeable.

6. Battery Handling & Storage Guidelines

To maintain battery warranty:

  • Always charge batteries fully before storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place (20–25°C) away from sunlight

  • Keep batteries upright at all times

  • Do not place objects on batteries

  • Avoid storing batteries in a discharged state

  • Check voltage every 3–6 months and recharge if needed

  • Handle with care — batteries can be dangerous

7. Battery Warranty Claims Requirements

To process a battery claim, the following are required:

  • Completed Warranty Claim Form

  • Wiring or system diagram

  • BMS data (from installation to claim date)

  • Clear installation photos

Failure to provide these will result in claim rejection.

8. Equipment Usage

All products come with manuals. Customers are required to read and follow instructions before use.

9. Life Support Policy

SMKSolar products are not designed for life support systems or critical medical applications. The company is not liable for any damage or injury arising from such use unless formally agreed in writing.

10. Product Handling & Transportation

Products are sensitive and must be handled with care.

  • SMKSolar is not responsible for damage after goods leave our premises

  • Batteries must always be transported upright

  • Ensure your logistics provider understands proper handling requirements

11. Goods Return Policy

To return a product, provide:

13. Additional Notes
